The Mains of Blackford project is a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development is owned by Anesco
(same owners as Site 4)
Physical Size = Applied for 17.43 Acres (11 football fields) Battery area 0.98 Acres
(it is unclear why they have applied for such a large site with batteries only in one small corner of it - we can only assume they will apply to upgrade the site with more batteries later on).
The project is situated several fields away from the Rothienorman substation and will require trenching for cables.

Planning Approved = 23/08/2024 - only 8 responses were received to the consultation.
Timeline = already under-construction
Power Output = 49.9MW Registered Capacity (Apparent power rating 56MVA)
Capacity = 99.8 MWh (105.335 MWh usable 100.416MWh), so it will discharge to the grid over a 2 hour period
