
Overview of the BESS Sites

It should be noted that all of these sites require to connect into the Rothienorman Sub-Station so that they can buy electricity when it is cheap and sell it when it is expensive.
Behind the Sub-Station there is also the Welsh Power Grid Stability Facility - which is a giant turbine spinning in a vacuum - another type of battery (this project is already completed, and the construction disruption is just about finished - we now have an additional low level 'hum' from the facility)
Please be under no illusion - none of these sites are funded by the government or by SSE. None of them are 'required'. All of these sites are funded by 3rd party capital ventures who are looking to make a lot of money by buying and selling electricity in much the same way that they buy and sell shares on the stock market. This practice actually increases our electricity prices.
